A living language needs places to live. Not only in classrooms, books or history, but in everyday conversations, communities, and the culture being shaped right now.
Today, UpScrolled launches in Irish (known natively as Gaeilge), giving people a new way to connect, create and express themselves in their own language.
The Irish language is finding fresh energy among a younger generation, through music, culture and online communities. Recent national research found that 73% of those under age 35 in Ireland want to improve their Irish, reflecting a language being carried confidently into new spaces.
For UpScrolled founder and CEO Issam Hijazi, the update is about creating space for users to show up in their language and find each other.
“Language is central to identity and community. Adding Irish is another step towards making UpScrolled a more inclusive space where people can connect and express themselves in the language that feels like home.”
The addition forms part of UpScrolled’s continued expansion across languages, countries and cultures, shaped by the communities using the platform.
