Platform News and Updates

The update our community asked for, as promised

This is our biggest update so far. It's our way of showing up for our community. The people who use UpScrolled every day, the ones who told us what wasn't working, what was missing, and what they needed more of. We've been listening and building quietly. This is what that looks like.

Verification

Verification was never supposed to be a status symbol. Somewhere along the way, platforms turned a simple identity marker into aspirational exclusivity and vanity. A signal of influence rather than a true confirmation of identity.

We went back to basics. Verification on UpScrolled is now open to everyone. No criteria, no queue, no editorial decision about whether an account matters enough. It's a basic question with a real answer: is this person who they say they are? Bots and fake personas have made that question more important than ever. The badge answers it.

Simple. Human. Verified.

Privacy and control

Most platforms make privacy a setting. A maze of limited options and permissions designed to protect the platform more than the person using it.

We believe control belongs to the people using the platform. That’s what this update delivers. Private account controls are clearer and more direct. Followers can be removed without confrontation or notification. Mentions can be taken back. Comments that cross a line can be deleted without leaving a trace behind.

No placeholders. No digital paper trail. Gone means gone.

Less noise

Social feeds are noisy. Not just the content, but everything around it. Notifications that interrupt without reason. The same post surfacing repeatedly because multiple people reposted it. Comment sections with no sense of order or context.

Notifications have been redesigned from scratch. Reposts now live in their own space on user profiles, so the same content doesn't dominate a feed every time it gets shared. Less clutter. Fewer interruptions. Comment sections can be sorted by newest or oldest. Small change. Big difference.

A better feed isn't a fuller one.

The user experience

How people experience a platform is as much about the small decisions as the big ones. The order and speed at which content shows and plays. Details that either get in the way or get out of it.

Stories now load in chronological order, the way a sequence of moments is meant to be read. Video playback speed can be adjusted. Chats can be marked as unread. Follow suggestions have been improved to surface accounts that are actually relevant.

None of these are headline features. Together they shape an experience that feels intentional rather than accidental.

A community for everyone

Most platforms expand their language support when the business case demands it. UpScrolled is doing it because a platform built for everyone has to actually work for everyone.

Spanish, Italian, French, and German are now supported. Accessibility improvements bring stronger WCAG compliance across the platform. Selected text can now be spoken aloud.

Inclusion isn't a feature. It's our baseline.

Under the hood

Not every improvement is visible. Microphone permission issues are fixed. Performance is faster. The UI has been refined in ways that are felt before they are noticed. We fixed what was broken and improved what wasn’t doing enough.

Building in public isn't easy. We don't always get it right, but our community is always right there with us. This update is our way of letting them know we hear them. UpScrolled is their platform. We're working to make it better.
